College Students, Great Resource for Event Planners

The local University is a prime resource for event planners to secure smart, energetic volunteers and promote their events.

If you're planning a large event and in need of inexpensive, smart helpers, consider your local University a perfect recruiting ground for well spoken, educated temp help.  If your event is a non-profit there are probably plenty or sororities, fraternities, athletic teams or campus clubs that would be proud to support your cause with a few hours of their time.  As someone who loved events early on, I was more than eager to work for free when the Superbowl or PGA came to town just to learn more.

As far as promoting your event, most Universities have a campus radio station.  These guys love to have a local event to promote and tickets to give out.  The College of Communications can put you in touch with the radio show producers. Hopefully the plugs on this station will be at no cost to you, afterall, you’re providing them prizes for their audience.

College campuses and gyms are easy locations to promote your event with posters.  College kids have more spare time than the average adult and often like participating in special events in their community.

Recruiting a few stars from the school to serve on your planning committee can go a long way to increasing attendance and securing smart, happy volunteers.
